"Save Gin Hall " Action Group launched

Walmersley residents held a meeting on Thursday 24th November and decided to step up the pressure on the Council to stop "Gin Hall " from being considered for industrial or commercial development and protect the Green Belt in Bury North.

Too many decisions in Bury are taken at executive level. Labour's Township Forums are only advisory, have no decision making powers and no bugets. We believe that power and responsibility should be given to the lowest possible level.

Bury Greens say "FRACK OFF"

A leading member of Bury Green Party recently attended "Camp Frack" at Hesketh Bank near Blackpool to join local residents' opposition to the proposed hydraulic fracturing of shale in the area. Exploratory drilling in Lancashire was halted as two earth tremors hit the Fylde coast on 1st and 27th May 2011.

Walmersley residents' vigorous campaign against the release of Green Belt land in Bury North for commercial development forced Planning Officers to withdraw the Council's Local Development Framework at a Hearing on 13th May 2011.
