Bury Green Party

30 November 2013

The controversial planning application 56575 for an Anaerobic Plant installation at Fletcher Bank Quarry in Ramsbottom which was due to the heard on Tuesday 12th November has been withdrawn.

According to Bury Council, the reason for this sudden turn of event is because the applicants ( Peel Investment Ltd and Marshall Mono Ltd ) felt that additional information was needed to accompany the environmental statement to respond to concerns that had been raised in connection with the plant and its operation.

Confirmation that the additional information requested from the applicant concerned the Air Quality chapters of the supporting documents has now been given at  Lancashire County Council Planning Committee on Wednesday 27th November and by Bury Planners on Friday 29th November.

It is therefore clear that Bury Green Party and Rammy Greens rightly took the decision to focuss on the lack of scientific robustness with the Air Quality data and methodology as part of our objection to the AD planning application and the "Inert Infilling" of Fletcher Quarry Bank.

However, we understand that a fresh application may be submitted in the near future which will undergo the same planning process and consultation.

Should such a revised new planning application be re-submitted at any point, we will examine all the new evidence and consider our response.

Both the "Inert infilling" of the Quarry ( ref : 14/13/0375) and the AD  planning applications ( ref: 14/13/0374) were heard by Lancashire County Council Planning Committee on 25th November.

The LCC approved both applications as only the land where the water management lagoon for surface water run-off for the whole quarry site is located is on Lancashire land. LCC has no juridiction on the AD Plant installation which is entirely on Bury MBC land.
